Looking for assistants

I am lucky to have several great assistants who have been with me for awhile now and they know how much I treasure them. However,I’m always on the lookout for an extra pair of hands to help on a shoot. Sometimes, other stylists contact me looking for an assistant too. So, leave your contact details here, if you are interested in helping out.

You never know where it may lead.

  1. Hi Caroline,

My name is Paris Samuel, we have met before a few times.
I am a Home Economist and worked with Cheryl Beitzel for 3 years casually (while finishing study) and then for 6 years full time at Simplot Australia.
I then when to Coles Head office apart of the Home brand team with Jane O’Shannessey. I left to have my first son (now 7) and then did some freelance recipe development for Nestle and a design agency for packaging. I then got pregnant with twin boys (now 4) and found myself too busy to work.
Now I am wanting to get back to some casual work either assisting or recipe testing, recipe development. So it would be fantastic if I could catch up with you and have a chat about the possibility of work.

Hope you are well and hope to have a chat with you soon.

    Kind Regards

    Paris

  2. Hi Caroline! Wow I can’t believe this has popped up in my inbox!!
I have been working as a home economist on Masterchef UK, but I am heading home to Melbourne in a fortnight and will be looking for similar work. I would be honored to be considered for a position with you or a colleague. I had previously contacted you re suitable courses and gaining experience in food styling, and i heeded your advice and have thoroughly enjoyed my time on Masterchef and other food programmes and shows in the UK and US. I am also thrilled to see you are conducting your own food styling course. Please do not hesitate in contacting me for any further details.

  4. Your lamb shank soup was atrocious.
Have you ever actually made it?
    I doubt it.
I gave the shanks to the dog and put the soup down the toilet.
    Are you serious?
    Waste of time and money.
    Thanks so much.
I have a fuckwit proof lentil soup recipe you can have but you’d probably turn it into shit.
    Let me know.

    • Hi Mark
I’m sorry that you didn’t like the soup. It was a family favourite growing up. I have made it many times.
I make all the recipes that are photographed.
I would be happy for you to send me your lentil soup recipe.
      kind regards
      Caroline.

  6. Hey Caroline,

I’m keen to secure some hands on styling experience with a stylist professional, and I would love the opportunity to assistant you on set?

I’m currently working full time at a boutique greengrocer and have the daily duties of food displays and I’m super keen to take it up a level and learn from the best.

If there is any chance that you might have any work for me to help out with or know of any one else I can talk to, that would be amazing!

Hope you hear from you soon.

    Cheers,
    Helise

  8. Hi Caroline,

I realise this is quite a late response to your last post, but I would love to leave you my details should you ever need that extra pair of hands to help out with a shoot.

I have no formal training in food styling, but I have a lot of experience in the food industry, I love to cook, I’m extremely comfortable with food preparation and handling food in general, and I always place an emphasis on presentation, and how to make food look as appetising as possible.

I love food photography, and food styling is an industry that I would really love to gain some experience in! I’m currently completing my third year of a nutrition degree, but my availability for the rest of the year will be quite flexible.

    Hope to hear from you!
